For sometime now, I've been shouting that off metal errors are hot and to watch for higher prices to come! WELL!! Those prices are here...
Prices on Nickels on Cents have risen drastically, here are some latest examples:
No date nickel on cent (BU) sold for $300. On eBay, another BU of the same sold for $326.
A 1970-D nickel on cent sold for $460, that's up over 100% from previous prices!
I guess other off metals will follow this trend, cent on dime planchets (clad) currently in the $300 range will move up to $400.
Quarters on Cents will rise to the $900 level. This will also propel what I said for sometime now... Double denominations will move to the $1,000 range, their 3 to 1 ratio of what cents on dime planchets currently cost.
Silver Cents:
Here is a hot area! Several months ago I sold a 1943 cent on dime planchet (silver) NGC AU58 on Ebay for $3,500. Everyone was astounded at this record price, as they use to sell for nearly half of that! But I reputed that old price by explaining this coin had that magical date "1943", cousin to the famous 1943 copper cent (instead of steel). Just a few days ago (March 21st) while attending the Bowers & Merena auction in Baltimore, MD, I viewed an error coin being auctioned off, a 1943 cent struck on a dime planchet! Low and behold this was the same coin I sold on eBay several MONTHS earlier, it still had my original label on it. NOW hold on to your seats!!!!!
At the auction it sold for SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($7,500).
Four thousand MORE than I sold it for!!! A 115% profit in a few months... Would you call that a HOT market... with that type of bidding on Silver cents at auctions, expect a cross the board price increase on them. Expect prices to rise from $1,200. for BU examples to $1,600-1,800 or even 2k. Earlier dates in the 1950's even higher!
MUCH Higher..
Till next month!
