Central States Numismatic Convention

We attended this Columbus, Ohio major Numismatic Convention and was pleasantly surprised by the large amount of better errors being offered for sale on the bourse floor. We were able to purchase some really rare hard to find type errors, as well as several other error dealers were able to do the same. Seems like many errors were coming to light after being held in private collections for decades. We surmise that the previous owners wanted to take advantage of the current selling prices and they were right! You either paid the price immediately OR within a moment another dealers was there ready to pay the price..

At the same time we saw very few if any 2002 State Quarter errors. One dealer did have a pair of 2001 State Quarters struck on "Dime" planchets and there was at least three full time error dealers with tables at the show who offered a large selection of errors in their show cases. Both stated that the show was very busy, better in sales and new purchases than expected.

What were some of the errors offered at the show, here are but a few;
1951-D 20% Off Center Franklin Half Dollar, Early dated Indian Cent struck on a Seated Liberty Dime planchet, 1943 War Nickel struck on a (steel) Cent planchet, a rare Double Struck Drape Bust Quarter, Proof errors, a Double Struck Buffalo Nickel, several Off Center Morgan Dollars from 10-30%, one double struck Morgan Dollar in Collar MS 64. These were but a few.. Want to experience this error fever? Next time attend a Major Numismatic event like Central States, Long Beach, ANA, or FUN, you won't be sorry!

The Numismatic hobby in whole is Hot! Seems like investors have found Rare coins attractive again since the Stock market is doing so poorly. Rare silver and gold coins are trading at higher rates and there is NO need to tell you how Better error coins are doing! They have been leading the market for the past four years and continue to do so.
