What's HOT and Not!!

Type coin error sales have been very strong, with many new higher prices.. With all this activity in this sector, it's not uncommon to see a better error coin purchased and sold at the same coin show SEVERAL times, each time with a higher price tag. Example, we recently saw a 1869 Indian cent struck on a Dime planchet, PCGS AU55 purchased and sold several times. This is to be expected with such a rare high grade error as this! If you want to own a coin like that, you better purchase it when it's offered or the person standing behind you will!! I don't see an end to higher prices for better errors. Though Nickels struck on Cent planchets have come down some after sky rocketing price increases about a month ago.. Dated Unc & better examples have been selling between $200-250. Cents struck on Dime planchets are in the $300 & higher range and Quarters struck on Nickel planchets are $200+.

Modern Major Mint Errors are just as hot as Type errors. The SBA Dollars on Sac planchets and the Sac Dollars on SBA planchets (transitionals) are extremely popular and holding steady in the $15,000 range. 1999 State Quarters struck on experimental planchets are selling easily in the $10,000 range.

Major die caps of rare type coin series are being purchased by several Major Mint Error dealers. The supply has dwindled and prices are rising. This includes the few known Indian Head Cent die caps, Barber Dime die caps and other rare type coin die caps which are being snapped up by these dealers. It is amazing that with only a handful or so of these type coin die caps known, each can still be purchased in the $10,000 to $15,000 range.

The Long Beach Coin show is the first week in June, and were waiting to hear from Mint Error dealers how things are out there on the West Coast.Until then, We offer just this advice...
If the Mint Error that you've been searching for becomes available, don't wait too long hoping to get a better deal. You may never get another chance!
