April 6,7, 8th 2001 we will have a full corner table at the WESPNEX, Westchester County Center, Bronx River Pkwy & Central Ave, White plains, NY for more info call Mark Simon 914-423-7957 Hope to see you there. (Will also be attending the ANA August Convention in Atlanta.) Are you aware that a new type of planchet has surfaced? A Unburnished (frequent discussed procedure in the news) Sacagawea dollar type 2 planchet has surfaced. Graded and authenticated by NGC last year (2000) this planchet has all looks of a normal type 2 planchet, except it has no burnishing marks or pings. That is all those little ball bearing size appearing marks all over it. Burnishing is supposed to enhance the appearance of the struck coin and is a normal process of the sacagawea dollar. Does this make a "type 3" planchet?

So far only "1" one has been discovered, since type One (No Upset Mill or curved edge to planchet) Sacagawea planchets draw a big premium. What will this newly discovered planchet draw?? Time will tell! We hope you like our new What's HOT article, that examines a different Error series each Month. Occasionally we will give an overview of the entire market place to keep you informed. Also an over view of What's HOT & NOT in error coins. Next Month in Error Class 101: we will start an in depth look at Die Adjustment Strikes (DAS), How they're made today & yesterday, are they errors or Test pieces? and much more. Have a great Month & Keep well Rich
