What's HOT and What's NOT?

This month, lets take a look at the Dime series. Dimes are often overlooked in the error hobby, but that can be good for you. Seems like people Collect Cents, Nickels, Quarters ,Halves and Dollars. But why not Dimes? There are plenty of Great series, Bust , Seated, Barber, Mercury, Roosevelt. Most major errors in any of these series are very scarce or even rare. For instance, how many Bust or Seated dime Off Centers have you seen? For that matter, how many 20% or more Barber or Mercury dimes have you seen in high grades? What about Cuds, Caps, Double strikes, and on and on.. Maybe that's why they are overlooked, because there's so few of them ever seen! But, believe me it won't be long till their rediscovered in this HOT Error coin market. Dealers , as well as collectors will realize this and start gobbling them up, before their prices jump. We've already seen some price increases in Mercury and Silver Roosevelt dime errors. How long before better Bust, Seated & Barbers take off ? |
Silver (pre-1965) Roosevelt major dime errors are very cheap right now, look for major errors in high grades & eye-appeal. Mercury 10c- are catching on , but are still VERY underpriced, long known for their beauty. Once again look for High grades (Au-UP) and better errors. A lot of growth potential here! Barber 10c are very rare with major errors, look for XF and better.. Look for very big growth in this sector of errors. Bust & Seated 10c errors are almost unheard of! Major Off centers, double strikes, buy in almost any grade, but make sure there real and the planchets are not bent! Have seen a few with bent planchets, making them damaged! and UN-certifiable by major grading companies. Want some Clad Roosevelt Dime picks? I like Cuds, Caps, and Bonded pairs, make sure there certified if your new to the hobby. Good luck, as there is a lot of opportunities in these series.. Next month, we'll look at Quarters.
